The Osceola Friends of the Library will present a $500 grant to a graduating senior in May 2025! The deadline to submit your application is Saturday, May 3. 

Applicants will be selected based on scholastic achievement, character and leadership, and essay response. The essay topic for the scholarship is “why are libraries important?” and should be typed, 200-500 words in length, double-spaced. 

Instructions to submit your application for the scholarship are:

• Include an official high school transcript
• Attach a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or employer
• Attach a resume of extra-curricular activities 
• Send all materials to the following address: PO Box 2087, St. Cloud, FL 34770-2087

In order to be eligible for the Barb Shuman Scholarship, you must:

• Be a graduating senior in May or June 2025
• Show an acceptance letter to a post-secondary school by Thursday, May 15, 2025. 
• Be an active member of the Osceola Library Teen Ambassador program with a minimum of 25 volunteer hours since joining the program
