From September 15 – October 15, join us as we explore the traditions and cultural contributions of Hispanics and Latinxs to American life through performers, food, history, language, and more!
All across branch locations, the Library is excited to host these amazing programs:
- Saturday, September 16, at 12pm – Sugar Skull Painting: Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by learning about the significance of sugar skulls while creating a decorative version. Supplies provided.
- Monday, September 18, at 10am – Baby & Me: Hug your little one while sharing this special first-time experience. This storytime introduces books with play time and repetitive music. Age: Birth-18 months. This themed storytime will be in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
- Saturday, September 23, at 1pm – Cooking with Culture: Awaken your taste buds while discovering how to cook authentic Puerto Rican cuisine in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Featured Recipe: Arroz con Calamares
- Saturday, September 30, at 1pm– My Country, My Culture: Engage in conversation with local Hispanic artists that will guide you through the customs and traditions of their respective countries, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
- Saturday, September 16, at 1pm– Baila Conmigo! / Dance with Me!:Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month through crafts, music, and dance! Light refreshments will be provided.

Wednesday, September 27, at 10am – Rhythm, Rhyme, and Storytime: Sing, swing, and sway through this program dedicated to music and movement! Finger plays, rhythm movement, dancing, and free play create the perfect opportunity for fun-filled learning as you watch your child develop their vocabulary, counting skills, creative thinking, and listening skills. Ages 2 – 5 years old. This themed storytime will be in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

- Saturday, October 7, at 2pm – In The Heights Matinee: Explore stories of Hispanic culture through the film, In the Heights, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Rated PG-13. Closed caption available upon request.
- Wednesday, September 27, at 6:30pm – 1, 2, 3… Salsa!: Learn the basics of Salsa dancing with Vanessa Rodriquez of Kissimmee Latin Dance Academy. No partner? No problem! Couples and individuals welcome.
- Saturday, September 30, at 11am – Encanto Interactive Movie: Bored with plain-old movie watching? Kick it up a notch with an interactive experience! Create props to be used with a script of cues and act out specific scenes throughout the movie. Popcorn will be provided. Patrons are encouraged to bring their own water bottles. This program will be in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
- Saturday, October 14, at 2pm: Maker’s Cafe: Flower Crowns: Learn about Mexican culture while making a traditional floral crown. Supplies provided.

- Monday, September 18, at 10am – Sugar Skull Color Art: Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of sugar skulls featuring designs with mandalas and flower patterns in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Supplies provided.
- Thursday, October 12, at 1:30pm – In The Heights Movie Matinee: Explore stories of Hispanic culture through the film, In the Heights, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Rated PG-13. Closed caption available upon request.
- Saturday, September 16, at 1pm – NovelTea Book Club: Enjoy a lively discussion while enjoying teas based on each month’s book selection. This month: When I Was Puerto Rican by Esmeralda Santiago.

- Saturday, September 30, at 2pm – Mexican Paper Flower Bouquet: Discover the historical significance of paper flowers in Latin cultures by creating a stunning bouquet. Supplies provided.
